Computer Technical Question

Hi Everyone

I'm hoping someone can help me?

I'm trying to play my laptop through my TV. I have a hdmi cable plugged into both and I can get my laptop screen on to my TV but the sound still comes through my laptop not the TV. Does anyone know how to change this?

I've tried googling and it says I need to change the output to the hdmi but I cant find this setting on my pc.
It's run by Windows 8

any help would be very welcome!

go to the "desktop", right click on the speaker (volume icon) in the bottom right next to the time, and select "Playback devices".
If hdmi output is supported by your laptop it will show as a speaker, click on it and choose set default.
