Digging in??
Hi - I have put my tortoise into an outdoor enclosure this summer for the first time, he's about three now. He seems to be burying himself daily. I keep digging him back up every day. What can I do to stop him or should I be stopping him??

First time in an enclosure can be a little off putting to tortoises, it can be a feel safe factor as an alien enviroment, need's to feel predator safe ect. The other thing can be temp's coming from stable temp's to fluctuating, they get a little hardier and used to be put out.

Keano one of my horsfield's did this a couple of weeks ago.Same place each day.Kept bathing him as usual and when the weather changed he was on the move.Strange creatures at times. When the temperatures rise you really notice a difference

I do hope so! Why bathe every day? I feel like I'm learning all the time in this site! I only ever bath him once every couple of weeks or so. He has a bath in his enclosure but I've not seen him go into it!!

If your tort has been under the UV/Heat lamp its best to bath him to prevent dehydration. With the warm weather of late my two love having a bath with the sun on their shells.I very rarely see either of my two in the water dish in their enclosure. It also helps them with their toilet duties hehe
