A hay like Timothy you mentioned, fine chopped like in a blender, fed as a mix would be a good supplement.

if you are gioing to try "salad mix" you need to add other green stuff as well like grass and weeds (more grass/weeds than salad) & you could even add carrot.

as already mentioned the salad is mostly water so its gonna be wetter coming out.

dont know if plantain is readly availble in your country so that one might be out, but its an excellent weed.

do the torts only get Mazuri and hibiscus? or do they get other greens/weeds? this could be the problem.

Hihiscus leaves are very fiberous... The mazuri and hibiscus should be fine because the hibiscus is only filler... the bermuda hay would be better but I only say that because I don't know the nutritional makeup of the hibiscus leaves.

A good friend of mine add's timothy hay to there diet's by cutting it into small length's then chopping fine in a coffee grinder , seem's to work well.

but if their only geting Mazuri and hibiscus that would explain the problems, don't you think.

No. Mazuri provides all the needed nutrition. The hibiscus provides the filler... the op changed the diet to leafy lettuce... ended up with runny stools.

I feed them Hibiscus flowers only and not leaves and that to once every 1-2 weeks. The rest of the time Mazuri.
