i have both species

i find the redfoots are "easier" once you have managed to control the tempertures and get the humidity correct

redfoots can eat some fruit along with their weeds

however i feel all torts need access to the outdoors
they are basically wild animaals that need to forage walk exercise and get the uv from the sunshine

my reds have a greenhouse and outdoor garden at the moment
they are housed in my spare bedroom at the moment
but i do have a brick shed for when they get bigger
plus i have a 4 bedroomed house with only me and hubby
so i have enough room

indoors 1 redfoot will eventually need the space of a wardrobe on its back

If you undersatnd what each speciecs needs you'll find one isn't easier than the other, will just require different needs. Our summers aren't warm enough for reds to be out all summer, you'd only put them out on very hot days so they would be accomodated inside mostly.

Yes, yes it will. And if you sleep in the room its very likely that the water will be sucked into your body via osmosis as you sleep. This could lead to a nasty condition called water on the brain and I have a feeling you would drown quite quickly.

it shouldnt affect your room

my table is made from large pieces of solid plastic
screwed together to make large table enclosure
top soil with play bark on top
regularly sprayed to achieve 75 to 80% humidity

i have no damp problems any where

It's great to see you are being very thorough in your research having stated already that you've researched for 2 years previously, most people don't do that much research before buying a tort so all credit to you! You must have learned so much in that time.

I think it's a fantastic idea that you intend to save up for the tort first before getting it (many people don't) and that you are sensible enough to know that you will need £100 put away for vets bills.

Well done!

Yes, a joke. Apologies to Rocky 5. It's a case of knowing who your "friends" are on internet forums. Eh, Rocky?
