Default carrot tops

Carrot tops

Are they ok to feed our tortoises with??

I would say no as I threw some in with mine a week or so ago that were growing in my weed patch and they were the only thing they didn't want.

stuart , do you mean carrot tops as in the greeny bits? I am not sure they eat them or have nutritional value - carrots contain tannin too so supposed to feed sparingly though one of mine will bite my arm off for grated carrot so I am wary with over feeding. CB

Thats right the green bits, been grown carrots with the son over the school hoildays, getting ready to pick them so was just a thought.

you may want to consider a guinea pig too if you have lovingly cared for carrots ! with beautiful green tops !! or two maybe..... ! I have never tried so led by Gordon ! CB

I still find it so interesting and fun how a tortoise will leave certain green food, to me it all looks and smells the same lol

mine really only eat clover and dandelions from the lawn, they don't seem to like much else despite me madly trying to grow things. Their breakfast (not the Horsfields because they are endless piggies), is cut up dandelions, diced cucumber and sliced tomato with chopped vine leafs and maybe gooseberry leafs, they chomp it down. Maybe that's why they wont eat anything much else I suppose but have always done that. CB
