Default BCG north symp 16th october 2010

So, any body here going to the BCG symposium in Chester? I am attending along with my lil sister Charlotte and probably my daughter Lauren too. I am hoping to stay over so will be looking to reserve a hotel room or two.......anybody else got plans on where they are staying yet?

and a quick link to the order of events.......I happen to know that Chris Newmann will be talking on our favourite subject......Tortoise Farms! He just PMd me to say he has sorted it out. This guy is brilliant, has visited the slovenian farms and will happliy answer questions so it should be good for people wanting more info. Anyway, the link to the BCG website.

I hope some of you can make it to the BCG meeting on Saturday, October 16. It looks like it will be an interesting meeting. I hope to meet some of you there.

It was a good event with some excellent and interesting speakers including you Ed!
What a pity that neither the Chairman or Vice Chairman of the BCG were there, to support John Thorpe. Well done to John Thorpe for his continued success of this meeting.

Thank you for the kind words. I am continuing to have as good a time as I usually do here in the UK... except for the weather this time. The company mor than makes up to it though.

I do think I did indulge a bit too much but luckily there were only friends around to excuse the stupidity... (we'll see how good those friends are).

I'm surprised there wasn't a bigger turnout but there were at least 50 people which is not bad.

I was very interested in the talks and I was surprised at how well the talk I gave was received. I got a good deal of complements on the material I presented. This put aside all reservations I had which gave me ideas for other presentations.

I had a great time before, during and after the meeting. I hope they continue to welcome me back to both the north and south meetings.

I went to the symposium again this year and it was once again an excellent event, well worth attending next year if any one is thinking about it.

The speakers and their topics were very good and interesting and Ed I enjoyed your presentation too

Thank you for taking your time to entertain us all

Thank you. It was an extreme pleasure. I've yet to walk away from one of these things disappointed and it is totally based on the audiences responce.

I was affraid that I was going to get the response... 'what do we care about American tortoises'... I could have definately gone in that direction.

I went Ed first one of these meetings I had been to. I thoroughly enjoyed the talks, I thought the german Lady vet had a great sense of humour & enjoyed your talk, & great pictures.

It was also a chance to make some new friends with a common interest.

I was going to say why didn't you introduce yourself but then saw the name and thought... she did.

I'm glad you liked it and I got a kick out of meeting you. It's always nice to put a face with a real name.

Those meetings are a great opportunity to network.

Why would anyone not care about American torts?

Glad your talk went well Ed, I don't know why you worry, you are a great speaker

Some groups like to fixate on only the stuff they are interested in. The talk could have gone either way. If the group wasn't interested they would have been bored senseless.

Anyway... it did go surprisingly well and I had yet another fantastic UK visit... except for the last day when the weather turned to total crap being cold and rainy. I then also caught a cold for which I'm paying for right now but it was on the last day.

Thanks to everyone who made my trip a very enjoyable one.

I have some photos from one of the talks which I'll post at a later date.
