Angry Please sign my downing street petition! Only one month to go!

Sorry to trouble you. As you know the situation regarding toRtoises and turtles in China is diabolical. I wonder if you could give your support to a petition I have currently on the Downing street site? Its about animal cruelty in China to try to pressure our Govt to do something about it.Its doing quite well, but is only up till Xmas. We need numbers. There is evidence that the Chinese Govt are beggining to respond to pressure but this is a major task and we need to keep the pressure up, maybe for some time. If you could support it by signing yourself and perhaps forwarding it to people that would be extremely helpful

The site is at

http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/chinacruelty/

There is a facebook group to support this at

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=41970046046

Any help to encourage signatures greatly appreciated

It's not my place to impose my values on another culture. I see it as kind of hypocritical... We're placing the value of an animal over another person. That seems a little odd to me.

I don't see your point.

A product is provided... if it is unwelcome... the product fails.

Here, a wanted product is being provided... because of one societies (which is quite far removed from the target society) values... that product is being petitioned.

I really don't see the paralell or irony.

My point is the opposite of what you imply.

I guess it wasn't important enough for a follow up...

I'm curious... did anyone actually read the link that was posted posted?

Kind of pointless if they don't know what they are signing...

That's my point... it seems that many in the chelonian world jump on a band wagon without having a clue what it is about.
