please help i dont know what to do!

My 2 year old horsfield is poorly i think.

Can a Torty vomit?

Bilbo has done nothing all day (just slept under soil all day in the cool end of his house).

I got home from work and gave him a warm bath and he looked like he was gagging (head fully out and kinda strained, mouth open and kinda shaking.

He didnt poo or wee in his bath so i got him out and tried a little food but didnt even look at it so i put him away under the heat lamp to dry off.

About 20 mins ago the lamp goes off for the night and he normaly digs a whole and goes to sleep.

So the light went out and he still has not moved an inch just sat there un moving. In the "road kill pose" Legs and head just out.

Is he sick? Constipated? Any ideas?

has it vomited? that would be a sign of possibly eating something toxic but not only that. I think you'd need to bath the tort in warm but not hot water to try to get it to drink.

Mind, today most people's torts would not have been as active as usual with the weather being cooler, even indoors

No not vomited but looked like it was gagging or straining!

The warm is not hot its around the temp you would bath a baby in.

As for being less active he was fine yesterday.

is it not colder today? it is here, it's been perishing compared to yesterday

what I mean about bathing it is should should do it now, for about 20 mins. not sure about it being baby hot, it's been nearly 30 years since I knew those temps

hehe both my tortys were in the bath for about 15 mins and the other one loves it but the ill one just sat there doing nothing and one point he put his head in his shell and i had to pull him out the water because his head was fully under for a bit

they can put their heads under water completely to drink for about 2 minutes but it does sound that there is something not right and you may need to see the vet I think

have they been wormed? sometimes worming can have an effect and also of course if they have a heavy load of worms

Make an appointment tommorow. I would not delay in doing this. For the meantime, keep doing what you are doing. But get him to the vet (make sure its an exotics one, not just a vet who has a "lot of interest" or "had one as a child") Go for ones with the back up credentials to show they know what they are doing, know particular symptoms of illness and can correctly confidently diagnose. xx

yeah we have a proper Exotic vet they are seeing every Sunday for the on-going worm treatment. If has only been today though. He was fine yesterday.

I dont like that gagging and the lethargic behaviour. IMO, you have cause and concern to get him looked at. If he has poo'ed tommorow, take this with you. But dont wait for anything else to occur. I hope you sort this, keep us posted. xx
