Exclamation Tommy is a girl after all....but what about Rosie?

Can anyone help please? I have recently been given 2 tortoises by my mum who is nearly 80. She got Tommy as a very small tort in 1960 so we know that he is about 50 years old. A few years ago he was unwell and was x-rayed - turns out that he is a 'she' as she had some eggs inside her!! Anyway the other tort - Rosie we think is about 30, my mum bought her in 1990 from someone who couldn't keep her anymore. Mum's vet told her that Rosie was actually a boy but when I took her more recently I was told that she is a girl! Mum says that she must be a boy otherwise Tommy wouldn't have produced eggs. Is this true or can torts produce unfertilised eggs without the presence of a male? What a dilemma!!!!

Thank you so much for your help - it was really bugging me! At least I can keep calling her she now without worrying that I'm hurting her feelings!!
