Default TALLULAH - VET REPORT (UPDATED)

Just got Tally back from the vets and sadly there are no eggs... BUT they xray did show that she had Calcifacation??? She apparently has calcium deposits in either her ovaries or kidneys - vet wasn't sure as he's not an expert. He's gonna ring 'Mr Chitty' (- a tort vet specialist???) and see what he thinks. It does look almost certain that she's going to be refered though .

If you look at the Xray - the tort is on her back (so you are looking at her from the underside) the deposits are; on the left hand side (as your looking) 2 lots in the abdo area one below the other and 1 lot on the right hand side slightly higher up.

Has anybody any idea what this could be? Do I need to be worrying about her?

They have given me some 'critical care' to syringe feed her at regular intervals.....

Please advise if poss........

Dawn,

I'd take her to CJ Hall in East Sheen - both of the Veterinary Surgeons there are really good. There a TT member in Ewell who swears by them as well.

So sorry to hear that Talullah wasn't gravid and has the calcium deposits! It's good that you took her to the vet, and maybe they can find a way to treat her now. I'm way out of my depth as regards answers for this, so maybe Hannah (or Piglet or Dan or one of the other really experienced keepers) will come in and give you some answers and good advice. Fingers crossed that she's all right.

Nina

We really can't tell whats going on Dawn without seeing the x-ray. In those places though it almost sounds like she has been eating rocks. Is that possible in her enclosure?

Danny

Hi Danny, unfortunatley (unlike the hospitals) they still have their xrays as hard copies and he wasn't able to let me have it as he wants to send it of for a refereral...

I suppose its not impossible for her to eat small stones.... if it was this what would they do?

Has anybody heard of the Critical Care that I've been given? Is it ok to use on torts????

You'll be thanking the lord almighty you kept up the insurance if you end up taking her to CJ Hall.
