Well I can't quite work out what the difference would be if you have a ceramic over the top or a heat Mat or come to think about it a bulb

Probably not much difference to a tubular heater other than the tubular heater will be IP65 rated so safer to use in damp environments

Might be cheaper but can't see how a tort would be able to sit on it so they have a limited use don't they.

So for that reason a heat Mat has more uses than ceramics bulbs and tubes

Wow, this has all got really interesting since I posted!

We are going to go for the tubular heater with a thermostat. I'm in the South West and our daytime temps have been around the 16 mark this last week. In my big greenhouse it's been getting up to 30 easily, even with all the vents open. So in an ideal world, what temps would you suggest for day and night? We were thinking 25 in the hutch in the day and 10 at night, does this sound right?

(The wooden hutch will have a flappy door into the cold frame so the tort will be able to move between the two. The coldframe flappy door will be locked at night).
