LED lights - eye warning for humans
I was interested to read in the newspaper yesterday that Public Health England are warning of the harm LED lights as they can damage the retina.
I am assuming this could be the same impact on torts. Any thoughts?

I wasn't aware of this Jan and will look it up. Med torts can handle very much brighter light than humans. But it might not be about brightness.

The newspaper story is about the use of a specific kind of led street lighting at night. One issue is that if humans are exposed to this kind of light at night the brain may 'think' its the middle of the day leading to disruption of the day/night rhythm. Possible retinal damage is also stated. I don't know how similar these street lights are to those sold for houses or reptiles. I've come across them at motorway junctions. I can believe they would keep the brain wide awake.

Thanks Jonathan.
I couldn't find anything on the Public Health web site. I might ask my electrician if he knows anything.

I believe its the luminax factor in certain lights - luminax is good and no where near equivalent to being outdoors even on a dull day, but 'blue' light type in computers and some bulbs are bad for duping the brain especially if have sleep disorders or stress to begin with. The UVA in bulbs for reptiles is different type of light as opposed to our LEDs as they can not see very well with normal bulbs - contradiction I think but that's what I was told. I cant stand these new humanoid LEDS they flicker but a lot of people don't seem to see it.
on a tortoise positive I swear these Arcadia combined are the same as happy health SADs lights sunwise. I love them being on as they give out heat and brighten up the room and will bet money they are same as the SADs lights giving out UVA&B. CB
