give them about another year or so and u will ahve some of these big boys.

this is is about a 1 month old one.

hi there WW they look great ikeep giant spiny stick insects which are enormous do you have any of those? this summer i had 4 eggs hatch (out of about 100) and they have grown really quickly. I have had my two adults for about 4 years now and i was wondering do you know how long they live for? cheers gail

actual gail i originally started off keeping Extatosoma tiaratum, which is problery the same or similar species to what you keep. i wud say the tops for these large stick insects is about 3 years , so you have some very well looked after and old stick insects. don't worry too much about the eggs, the larger the stick insect the long it takes for the egg to hatch and the harder it is for the egg to hatch. how are u keeping the eggs, are they with the adults or in a seperate area.

hi thanks for the reply WW! ikeep some eggs in apot seperately and the rest in with the adults only the ones in with the adults have hatched so far although i spray all of them and keep them warmish ie in a centrally heated room.Im sad they dont live long my adults will probably die soon then!!!

i wud just keep doing what ta doing and see what happens they have already lived longer than what i suggested. also if u can keep the rest of the eggs some where darkish, the the smaller oens u have a bad survival rate until theyhave finshed there 3rd instar. basically this means once they have finshed there 3rd shed they are eaier to take care of so if u can i wud keep smaler ones seperate from adults until there are more mature.
