New Family Member Poppy
This is poppy I rehomed her from Suebob28; she is a lot bigger than I thought lol. She was thought to be 3 and a half I would say more 6 or 7 years, here is a pic with her and my other two sully’s that are both 2 years old.
What do you guys think? Well she has settled in really well stomping around the garden, as she is a lot bigger I have to rethink my plans for an outside heated shed. I was going to give her the run of the garden as it is already tort proof but as for a house I’m not sure what to do yet. Has anyone ever insulated/heated a chicken coop? I was looking at one today it was nice and big and thought that might be better to heat? I have a lot of planning to do. Thank you again Suebob28 ill take good care of her & post loads of pics Minty |

What a pretty tortoise
congratulations I am sure you could insulate a hutch type thing, but I haven't done it. I have an outdoor heated shed which works well.

Very nice Sully Minty, does look big for 3y 6mnth's although i don't keep them.
Someone a while ago insulated a chicken house or was going too, tube heater on thermostat for night and winter, lamp for the cool day's. The height is one to bare in mind, to be able to suspend the lamp at the right height for the tort and the temp. Possibly bulb's can be swapped about during the year, like just a warm up bulb in a summer with a cool morning start, a combined used for crappy day's e.g.

I have decided to custom build a house for her now after looking at some posts on here off to B&Q now lol
Thanks for all the comments she has a great personality and getting on great. Any one want to take a guess on her age? My little ones are 2 so I think she might be about 6? |

She is beautiful - Sully's have so much personality - if I had a bigger garden I would love one.
It is nice that you can keep Sue updated - it must have been so hard to part with her. Hope to see a start to finish thread when you start making her new enclosure. |
