Hello and welcome if you are making it yourself the i would suggest as big as you can,and then you can put a partition across if you are getting babies that way you wont be needing to build again.
Can i ask what type of tortoise you are getting |

I agree, go for the largest you have space for. I partitioned off a larger table successfully for my first hatchling tort and it worked well. It really doesn't take long until they need the extra space.

Okay thanks for that after a bit of measuring and a furniture change I will be able to build a table maximum size of 6ft by 2ft so this will be plenty. I will be looking at getting a couple of hermann's or horsfields I've not really decided yet as I am still looking at what is best
Thanks Dave |

Nice plug Gordon!
That sounds like a good size to me too. I'm very biased but I love Hermanns

I'm a Hermanns fan too and would recommend them, but I know Horsfields are equally great for first tortoises. It's a personal choice.
As Gordon says, there are great breeders on here. Depending on where you are, we can point you in the right direction and recommend a breeder.

Will definitely be back on here to find the best place to get my torts. I am located in Devon but am willing to travel to a breeder, is there a good place for me to look online at lighting to get some sort of idea's at what I will require
Thanks Daventry |
