Default The Return of Tortoises to Santa Fe Island - June 27, 2015

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UdzVagISaO4 - edited in thanks to Pagan Queen , hope it works - (is further down too tried and tested)

When the weather is grey I scan for web cams of Tortoises in the Galapagos - It is very cheering !! I found the wonderful return of these lovely tortoises. some one better than me will be able to hyperlink it. pleeeese !
ok a bit sexist but the Spanish lady is lovely... talker and the tortoises are superb ! quite funny.

extracted - 'Tortoises went extinct on Santa Fe Island in the mid-1800s due to human exploitation. On June 27, 2015, Galapagos Conservancy and the Galapagos National Park brought 201 young EspaƱola tortoises, the most genetically similar to the extinct Santa Fe species, to begin to repopulate the island with tortoises'.

How blooming exciting for a Wednesday evening !!! cb

Thanks CB - I must have a look for that one.

There have been a few encouraging tortoise projects in the Galapagos in recent years. So welcome after all the carnage that went before.

I found this website which has great videos. http://www.galapagos.org/gallery/tortoise-cam/

I would absolutely love to do volunteering and tortoise research on the Galapagos islands, I had an opportunity to go out to South Africa at the end of the Summer hols to do field work on the homopus tortoise but I would've missed a lot of school

Well done Olly, it is the Galapagos Conservancy site that did the Return of Tortoises to Santa Fe , they posted it on You Tube but I don't know how to hyperlink - I like their web site. and web cam.

One day perhaps eh ! you will have lots of opportunity I am sure.

The main Galapagos site had lots of little hatchlings too on their web cam, nice one !! cb

To do a link CB, you click your mouse in the bar at the top of the screen that has the name of the website that you are on in, it should turn blue. Then you click the right button on the mouse and a box will appear with words in, move your mouse over the words until the "copy" is highlighted, Click that and then come on here and click where you want to post the link. Click the right mouse button again and this time in the box that appears click the word paste. There it's done. Now you try.
