Hi Graeme. Alex is a pancake breeder but I see you've already responded to his post. Good luck finding one. I think they're a fascinating tort species.

welcome Graeme, I would say don't be too ambitious with your wish list ! TSome species are a whole lot harder and hardier than others of course. Try and do a whole load of research and find a species which suits what you can provide long term! very long term. Be great to see some photos when able if you do get one. good luck, keep us posted. Welcome to the forum Graeme.

Look forward to hearing about your tort(s) when you get them.

So far my male and female are getting along fine, they are about 8 1/2. However, many have found one male with just one female does not work. I have given them a huge amount of space in the hope their happy relationship will continue.

I changed the size of their enclosures as they got older. The first one had sides that were only 4" high and we quickly added an opaque perspex to make it about 9". Now they are past 8 years their new home indoors is an upturned wardrobe, so sides must be about 18". Whether they need this height, I don't think so. We have put wood up all around their outdoor pen which is about 18"too. My measurements are all a bit of guesswork, based on making sure they cannot see out, otherwise they constantly try to get out.

There may be some better advice offered for you. I do tend to go a bit over the top too!
