Komodo pellets not complete diet?

My tortoises had weeds diet with Komodo very occasionally in a first year of their life. Then general opinion has changed on here and we had lots of snow and bad weather, so second year it is Komodo diet with weeds occasionally. You know what? I have noticed, that their shells are a lot smoother now on Komodo. Lights, temps, bathes are the same.
