How much do i feed my tortoise
Hi i am just wandering how much i should feed my four year old horsfield she is normally give two small feeds one in the morning which she has while i am gone and one at night when i get home. Is this enough for a growing tortoise. I thought i was right from what i had read but i got told by the man who used to have her it would upset her stomach (Although he didn't seem to knowledgeable as she was kept in a tiny fish aquarium sort of thing). Is he talking sense or rubbish.

It varies whatever i can find; Pansy, Dandelion, Sedum, Campanula, Romaine Lettuce, Plantain, Little Gem Lettuce, Pre Alpin, Water Cress, Bitter Cress, Florette salad mix without the iceberg (as advised by you) etc. I think she has a varied diet and as we get closer to spring i can see other weeds and plants popping up.
Hope this helps

Is she gaining weight? Is she healthy and active? If it's yes to both, don't worry
You could pop a spider plant, supermarket living lettuce or something else growing and edible in her enclosure for her to browse on if she fancies it during the day.

does it eat it all or leave some? if it leaves some then you are feeding enough, if not then you might still be feeding enough but you could try a bit more to see if it is. mine just get one large feed and usually leave some, sometimes they will eat a bit more later in the day and sometimes not.
I wouldn't apply that to pellets though, just plants |
