This is what I'm talkin' about...

Women obviously think differently than men. When you are looking for a guy... how far up or down the list is intimacy?

When you were first looking... were you actally looking for a long term relationship? How many did you date before you settled?

As to what you marry and what you date... two totally different things. I really think the women are at fault for the most part. Most guys I know, including myself, present what you see is what you get. I know that's not the case with most of the couples I know or have met.

My friend said "Do you know how much my jacket cost!" security said, "don't care love, you're not coming in". We discussed it over several bottles of sparkly. At 40, we were all single, well-paid, decent women living in London. So we decided to be more Scientific about the whole getting a partner thing. In a club: 500 people, 50% male, 50% remaining married or with partner, 15% of remaining not interested in women, 25% remaining not bright enough (sorry, but true), 20% of those dubious manners, political views, bad eating habits (sorry again, but quite important) 20% of remaining earn less than a quarter of our salary, about 44 guys left. Of those, how many would we each be suited to etc.
So we all joined two online dating agencies. We helped each other with our profiles, to make sure the things which were actually very important in life, were mentioned, for example; manners, honesty, doing the right thing, keeping your word, etc. On my profile I specifically put that I want interested in getting married, and wanted to meet someone who felt equally at home eating at Burger King or in a Michelin starred restaurant. 3 years later I got married to one of my online dates - and he won't eat in Burger King. Lots of funny stories though about people I met from the dating sites, especially the bloke whose photo wasn't his - I could write a book - I met some very interesting people.
Ask any questions you like..
Karen

You'd have to clarify what you mean by intimacy

When you were first looking... were you actally looking for a long term relationship? Yes.
How many did you date before you settled? two year's worth - quite a lot of dates.
As to what you marry and what you date... two totally different things.
I disagree, I wouldn't date anyone I didn't want to spend the foreseeable future with, whether that entailed marriage or not.
I really think the women are at fault for the most part. Most guys I know, including myself, present what you see is what you get.

You might think that you do present your true self. But in truth, we present the best side of us at the beginning. You wouldn't sit and fart in front of a new date. But I bet you did it in front of your paper marriage partner.

I know that's not the case with most of the couples I know or have met.
Well we all know some dodgy couples.

In my case... Before we got married... hiking, fishing, lots of intimacy... after we got married... no hiking, no fishing... intimacy was pretty good for the most part.

I've seen this pattern time and again.

With me... it is what you see is what you get.

So you just want your former life but with 'benefits'

No... I want my life to be as it has been since day one... with the benefits. The way I see it I haven't changed much since my teens. Unfortunately... my body doesn't see it the same way my mind does.

I've met a couple of men from Internet dating site many years ago, one came all the way from up north for a date with me (mad I know) he booked a hotel, we had a good few pints of Stella, I went to the hotel with him, and by the time I boiled the kettle for a coffee he was snoring his head off on the bed.....didn't even get to the kiss, so I called a cab and went home ha ha ha x
