Beak trim needed?
Hi,
From these pics does it look like this tortoise needs a beak trim. Because I have a tortoise someone asked me from only showing me these pics. I said to me it looked longer than my tortoise and when I asked what the tort eats off was told just a bowl. Not very helpful. I advised that my tortoise eats off slate as this is helpful in keeping beaks trim. If this tortoise was changed to eating off slate could the beak be trimmed naturally? If not I will advise they go to a vet. The tortoise belongs to a friend of a friend. I stupidly forgot to ask what the torts diet was like. Thanks for any guidance. |

I would give it a bit of a trim first, it's quite long.

I agree with Suze, his beak could definitely do with a trim, it's too long to wear down naturally. The sides are long too they may 'naturally' break away if he bites on something hard. (like cuttlefish)
