Canna Cocoa Review.
I know some of you are interested to see what this is like and if it's any good as a substrate, so I thought I would buy some and do a review as I go along.
It arrived today, took 10 days to arrive but we did have a bank holiday in the middle. I bought the slab and as it say's it's a meter long. Here is the size width wise with my hand as comparison. And the thickness of the slab. It is bone dry when it arrives so has to be soaked. I have broken a piece off and so far have added 1 and a half liters of water. It is soaking that up now. I will update this thread as I go along.

The piece I broke off, around 12 inches, has soaked up the liter and a half of water and it looks quite nice and crumbly. An observation, if you want to use it immediately I would use warm water or you will have to let it warm up in the table/viv before putting the tort back.

Here is the other thread I posted when I found this stuff. You can read all about it. The price is very good but the delivery cost is high.

Thanks for your review so far Pagan Queen. It's a good buy Merlin and P&P is very reasonable even for our part of the world.

Here's the 12 inch piece all soaked.
Judge for yourself if it's hairy Alan.

I soaked the rest of the slab and used 6 liters of water. I think you could probably use another liter as it's not that wet and there are dry pockets in there. It has a disinfectant smell, not strong though, but smells nice and clean.
I will be changing the vivs with it tomorrow so will let you know how it goes and if the torts like it.

It looks much the same thing hairy-wise as the IKEA stuff. I doubt there will be a hair free version as it would be extremely difficult and costly to remove the fibres and there would be no need for them to do so since it's for growing plants in I suppose. Thanks for the info Wendy
