Hi sandy, I was just woundering about egg cleaning before incubation, who does what method? (I have incubated both natural and cleaned eggs, but I do clean all the eggs before incubation now...T.T. 8)

It certainly makes candling a lot easier if they are clean<vbg>.
I usually just give them a wipe over.

TT same here i usually just give a wipe over with a damp tissue dipped in f10 to kill off any bacteria.

I rinse my eggs with warm water under the tap. Then dry them off with a paper towel. Then I'll look down the end of them. Usually eggs aren't quite oval, they have three dimensions. I try to have the shortest dimension top to bottom and the widest side to side. I've had hatchling have a hard time getting out of an egg if the widest dimension is top to bottom. Then I write all over the egg

do any of you leave the eggs so to speak where they are layed and see what happens or is the uk climate not warm enough to do this do people who live in hotter areas leave eggs in situ thanks linda |

The weather in the UK is not warm enough for natural incubation. But if the current weather
continues in the next few years, I can see it happening in greenhouses. Maybe outside depends on where you live.
