Anybody know of any leopard breeders?
I'm looking for a second leopard to keep my little kirk company. Does anybody know of any good breeders? I'm in the south east but i could travel to pick up.
Also, is there a rule about keeping 2 males or 2 females together? I've read that males can fight, but i've also read that they don't! so not sure what to believe really. Thanks |

There is no rule really just common sense. The Leopard tortoise has a very good nature and as a rule are not agressive.
However mainly I find in the summer months the male can be very active - if you have only female he could stress her by keeping on !!! The more females to male you have the less one female will be bothered by him. I have read the ideal ratio is 1 male to 2 females ( or more) - providing you have the room and are aware of how big these guys grow and the space they need. If you only want 2 together I would stick to same sex - although as you probably know it is difficult to sex them when they are young. I have not heard of leopards fighting before - I know my biggest female will give the others a nip if they get too closse to her eating !!! but that is because she is the dominent one of the group anyway. |
