Thanks Jeanette, it is nice to be able to give the old boy so much space, they do like to travel about. The garden is secure so he can't get out, but we do loose him under bushes etc sometimes!

Aside from the big scroll-bar I have at the bottom of my screen now
Looks good - I think the general consensus is that yes it should have a cover - moreso if it is a permanent home. Just reading some of the stories on here about crows/dogs/foxes makes me particularly nervous! I think the other suggestion, might be block off the bottom part of his fencing so they can't see out. On a different note, is that a 'pound shop' rubber mallet?? they're rubbish aren't they lol - I had to repair mine half a dozen times when building the enclosure!

Best to cover, but depends on weight of tort, what visits your garden, your nerves etc! You could use that green plastic lawn edgins stuff along the bottom of your fence to stop them seeing/trying to get through - its cheap & you can easily poke holes through, either cable tie in place or string.
Is it a horsfield? cant quite make it out. |

Horsfields enclosure
Filled in our pond area a couple of years ago and decided it was the perfect hot spot for the 6 Horsfields, this is thier first summer in it and they love it.

Its best to block off their view as otherwise they constantly try to get through anything they can see through. Ive just had similar problem with a coldframe which had obscured glass - well perspex! sides, in the end I have had to put planks of wood along outside to stop him constantly trying to get through them.
