Question Pellet kind of substrate

Hi I was looking at this video on youtube about this guys table for his tort as i was looking for designs to base my table on. This guy for substrate had these kind of pellets. Kind of like the ones you would feed a goat or something at a petting zoo. Is this substrate good right now i have top soil is top soil better
Thanks a lot

I think its actually biograss/repti turf. It will not harm your tortoises however it isn't very natural. It is made of compressed grass and is sold in some pet shops for reptiles needing low humidity. It will not harm if ingested, its also fed to rabbits apparently. I don't think any pellet substrate looks very nice for tortoises. It isn't natural but then again keeping tortoises in tables with lights isn't natural either. I would never use this stuff but at least you could argue it doesn't have bits of glass and other rubbish in like some topsoil does.
