Default Tortoise Garden- update

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cornwall-14664910
Sadly, despite some really sterling efforts by a group of stalwart supporters, it seems that this story is set to have a very disappointing end!

Its a crazy situation & who is going to come off worse? All because she was caring for a group of animals that no one else wanted!! Very sad.

this all came up last year and it also came out that she is/was breeding and selling the youngsters and charging to get in, so where do you draw the line. Most rescue places rehome their animals keeping ownership to make room for anymore needing help, I don't beleive she does that, and how many rescue places are open everyday and charge. If I'm right there were also concerns about the condition of some of the housing/pens, if all this was/is correct then wouldn't it be in everyones interest if there were regular inspections and if she is breeding/selling and charging where does that make her any different from other zoos, parks who have to have a lisence. Good intentions are all very well but you can't keep taking animals on if the space becomes limited and it gets to the point where you can't offer a good home for them, Redwings horse sanctuary did the same thing, never rehoming, overgrazing what they had then having to buy more land. Many of the ponies were perfectly healthy usable animals and it wasn't untill they joined with the Ada Cole who had been rehoming those fit enough that Redwings finally decided that rehoming was a good idea.

I have to agree with Pussygalore, in a way she is just doing what alot of tortoise owners would love to do, own hundreds of tortoises. She does charge entry and when I went I thought the pens weren't bad considering the numbers, however diet was not great and yes she was breeding and selling, I felt she was just living her dream and ok torts benefit as a result but she should have the same regulations as everyone else.

Default Tortoise Garden in Cornwall - I need someone who has bought a tortoise from there...

I was reading a thread on here (somewhere) and I sure it said that someone bought a Sulcata tortoise from the Tortoise Garden in Cornwall. Can anyone direct me to that thread please?
I am trying to find someone that has directly bought a tortoise (any species) from the sanctuary... there seems to be a fair bit of confusion as to whether they did actually sell hatchlings/baby tortoises or not.

Thanks

I think i saw a thread which said that they bred there adults and sold the hatchlings to pay for the adult torts upkeep.
Search for cornwall tortoise garden and I'm sure you will find the thread.
