Default Tortoise Names- what did everyone name their tort?

I am hoping to get a baby spur thigh tortoise, and have begun trying to think of names! I want a name where I wont have to change it when I figure out which sex it is! So I was thinking something that is not usually a name, like named after a food or brand or something, or maybe a unisex name like George (My boyf's fave!)

Can anyone suggest any good names or give examples of the names of your tortoises? I think it would be beneficial to anyone who's about to get or just got a new tort! And very interesting to learn what all the torts around here are called!! lol Pic's welcome too!

Thank you!

Hi Tink

I always name my pets if I get more then one of the same breed in a theme..

My torts are called Don't Know and Don't Care (we gave Don't Know his/her name because every time my husband said what are you going to call it I kept saying 'Don't Know' and so he/she was named, Don't Care Follows with the theme)
My cats are called Liquor and Spirit (Alcohol and they are the same breed as the bacardi cat adverts)
and my new additions my hamsters Jonny and Redrum (from the shinning)

I have done this themed naming since I was a child (I'm now 25) still haven't grown up lol

Mine are :

Jez - named because when myself and Steve (Converted) met in 1996 we both had a common friend... Jeremy who used to make us both laugh so much so it seemed a nice thing to name my first tort after him.

Ringo - because our favorite band is The Beatles... hence Ringo Starr

Penny - my favorite song is Penny Lane

I've got 3 Hermann's, all too young to be sexed and I've given them all unisex names:

-Hokewingla (Hokie), a tortoise spirit living on the moon in the Dakota mythology;
-Akupara, a tortoise who carries the world on his back and upholds the earth and the sea in Hindu mythology; and
-Bixi, the first son of the Dragon in Chinese mythology, which looks like a giant tortoise and is good at carrying weight.

I've always had the feeling that as such an old order, chelonians know more about the world and are wise and spiritual creatures. That may sound stupid I know, but that's why I chose names from world mythologies.
