Hi!If he's biting only at feeding time, feed them separately. But if this occurs other times aswell you should separate them of each other.

Sounds like you probably have two males horsefields can be very aggressive unfortunately.
Post pictures in the ID section to confirm this but if its the case they wont be able to live together

Well feeling bit gutted as one tortoise badly attacked the other this morning and it wasn't feeding time! its neck was badly bitten and drew blood! I have put the outdoor enclosure on the dining table with bedding etc for now and thankfully my neighbour is going to have it so we know it is going to a good home! I did research before I got them and thought there were probs with fighting with older ones not this age.

So think very carefully if purchasing two tortoises as it may not be a good idea.

Hi Linda! just checked Rocky (the injured one) and his neck looks much better and not bleeding, just a small scratch. I saw it happen me and my 8 year old were watching them and suddenly Fred almost ran to him with mouth open straight to its neck! although it has been bit traumatic I'm glad my son saw it as it makes it easier for him to understand why we can't keep it. Have you ever heard of this happening or did we get a phsyco tortoise!!
