Default i can never tell the difference...

between adult T. g. ibera and T.h. boettgeri

i can notice small difference when they are hacthlings but when adult, their carapace seem to even out in colour so the markings don't show as much.

any one with a special way to tell the difference between the two?
thanks
alice.

Hi Alice,

From shell alone? I think that Hermann's are rounder when viewed from above, Gracea are more rectangular (if thats the right word) sort of longer.

Of course there's the spur on a Hermann's tail and the spurs on a Gracea's thighs as well.

Hermans have spurs on the ends of their tails, one of the best ways of telling them apart.
Ibera and graecas have spurs at the tops of their legs.
