Carl she looks very much like a pre 1982 import , she looks in reasonable shape for breeding but because of her age uncertainty it wouldn't really be advisable unless housed with a experienced keeper , why did the RSPCA give her to your cousin i find this an odd thing to do i don't always have a great deal of time for the RSPCA but they don't usually hand out tortoises to inexperienced new owners

Well she is certainly not young, put it that way<g> he looks to be very smooth with the growth ridges worn away.Shame she has been treated badly

i know sue, i just fell in love with her straight away and so it broke my heart leaving her. thats why i gave her a long soak in a very warm bath, i also tried feeding her dandelion weeds and flowers but she had no interest

I wish the family werent so attached as i would offer them a fair bit just to rescue her as she still appears saveable as she looks so healthy in regards her shell and weight.

the story is, the previous owner had to emmigrate and gave her to a vet to look after 8 or 9 years ago and then the vet gave it to this family with the instruction of iceberg lettuce
