So if you had a dog that couldn't open its mouth to eat would you let it starve to death?
You need to realise that the RSPCA would view this as neglect of an animal in your care. Sorry to put it bluntly but I just do not understand how someone can have allowed this situation to have continued for so long. |

Please, go to the vet, do the decent thing & have this poor little creature PTS as soon as you can.

Well, I am sure you will be glad to hear that the tortoise is now eating. It can open her mouth a little bit. Not quite fully yet, and I am not sure if she survives or not, but it definitely was worth trying. I have to admit that I paid in vets fees more than it would be to buy another tortoise (actually, more than if I bought two of them), but for me it wasn't about money. If I learned anything from this experience, it is that I should never give up on a tortoise too early. I have to say, I am glad that I didn't listen to you.

well done Hanako & little one ! I think we can only trust in the steer from the vets sometimes be it we all have best intentions, from people who truly care on this site which is everyone ! - as different views as we all have. Glad you got back to us - maybe you will be able to post a picky when able... love to see them. CB

Sure. Are you going to admit then that actually you can be sometimes wrong? I understand that you have right to have your opinions, but I didn't like the way how it was expressed here in this thread. It was very judgemental (and I am not talking only about your post). Still, I am glad that I didn't listen... Just it would have been nice if the opinions were stated in a bit more supportive way. It was hard enough for me without the extra rubbish from some posters. Just my opinion.

oh no ! Posting is never ideal though is it in these circumstances! I think Gordon did do a pre-empt as in you won't like this......To be fair we are all a bit squeamish on the 'ol suffering point. Some have stronger views than others - I didn't comment but this site is better for all the comments and views , however at odds they may be felt at the time. There is never an easy way to say things sometimes and not sure it is about right and wrong ever. just living and learning, CB
