This may be a stupid question

but hey! I'm learning

The thing is Hokie's enclosure is quite large and although I try to keep it to a minimum, I NEED to walk inside the enclosure in order to do some things like changing the water, watering the flowers I grow in the enclosure for Hokie to eat and hide under or looking for him and spraying him. Now, is there a risk of contaminating the enclosure with diseases, and should I wear dedicated garden boots or clogs to tread in the inclosure? And when I get other tortoises, should I wear different pairs for Hokie's and the quarantine enclosure?

Also, I always wash my hands with anti-bacterian soap before and after handling him. Is that enough or should I wear gloves and if so what kind of gloves (disposable, latex, rubber, leather, etc)?

Well i have the same problem as you, i have to walk into my tortoises enclosures as they are so big. I have different pairs of shoes for different enclsoures to stop cross contamination. I also use an alchol based gel on my hands as you just rub it in no need for water.
