Excuse please, dont want to go to my bosses house for a get together
He is lovely and it is very kind of him but we have been invited to a party next week and it is just not my thing and I worry that it would appear rude to not go,when i was asked I said I would go and all my colleagues are going with their hubbies and my hubby and I feel it is just not our thing, but I dont want to upset my boss as he has been very kind and doing this but it is not us.I like working with him and the others but I would like to keep private and work separate, please think of a suitable excuse for me,and am I being anti social??

I would let him know due to a family function that you really can't get out of, you wont be able to stay at the party, that will give you the excuse to leave extra early, just stay long enough to say hi and have a quick drink, but give the impression you have made the effort and didn't want to appear to snub him

I'm a bit of an ogre and normally avoid this kind of thing but playing devil's anorak for a mo I would just say that you might really enjoy it...
Last minute excuses are always good but do leave you in danger of a rain check leading to further excuses needed. I would perhaps go with something like "my husband's a veggie/vegan/cannibal/axe murderer and feels a bit awkward about putting you out, thanks for the invite but we'll say no" |

Go to the party and talk about frogs and tortoises all night. Then you won't get invited again...See the party as a means to an end!

Someone very important person to you (best friend from childhood, sister, brother e.t.c),who lives far away from you and you don't see each other often,is coming to visit you on exactly the same day when party is??That's been my excuse to not go somewhere I don't want to go.

Tell him your herpes has flared up, and you won't be able to make it.
That will stop all future invites as well. |
