Question My tort doesn't seem bothered with her cuttle fish bone

Hello i have put a cuttle bone n with my tortoise but she just doesn't seem fussed i normally put on calcium supplement and i recently got nutroball but i thought that having the cuttle bone in her table she would monitor her calcium intake? What should i do?

Thanks

Just keep it in there, she may go for it at a later point, she may not, as long as you are still supplementing then it will be fine!

I would try soaking it overnight, mine won't eat it dry but will eat it wet, and seem to prefer the manky cuttlefish thats in the outdoor enclosures

Theo never touches his, but all three yearlings go through stages and then will spend an hour or so munching away at theirs. I love hearing them getting stuck into it.

my torts eat brand new cuttlefish bone, the big chunky loose ones that you buy from a bin or box at a pet shop or garden centre, they are not interested very much in those little ones that come in packets and are crap. They also prefer them to be wet. If you have fed them food they may not bother with the bone but if they haven't eaten then they sometimes attack it

Mine never ate it until I soaked it and broke it up into chunks..... they like it very muddy too!

They now have a new one in there now not soaked or broken up but they still have it now and again!
