Winding down
Thank you for the replies. One of mine has now started eating a lot less so i am decreasing the heat and light.
Don't suppose anyone knows anything about wine fridges? This is what my vet has advised i use as the air flows around in them. Anne |

my two boys are the same, they are 4 and had their 4 weeks with no food etc last month however as they still have outside access they were eating again last week so I've decided to wait another month, they showed no signs of slowing apart from not eating untill we had that blooming warm spell. Anyway the lights are back on now and they've had some breakfast I can't starve them any longer, maybe at the end of this month it will be a bit colder.

I'm hibernating my tort for the first time this year and now he's started first day of starvation yesterday i felt so guilty just giving him water, his lights have been reduced now down to 6hrs this week and his tabletop fridge is already for the first week in December if all goes to plan.

I don't know about wine fridges but the air ciculation aspect of it really isn't a major issue in my opinion. Just open the door once a day and let a bit of fresh air in, then close it again. Yes they need some oxygen when hibernating but it's a really small amount. After all some of them bury down quite deep in soil in nature and there isn't a lot of oxygen under there.

Looked at some wine coolers a bit back, the lowest temp i found was 7c, some were 10c, none were 5c which is the ideal fridge hibernating temp.
