update on tortoise

update on tortoise, she is at the vets, staying in a couple of days, they need to cut abit of her shell away from around her neck so it doesnt cut her neck, they need to treat the area where the shell has come off, that is near her lungs, they will give her painkillers, and bandage the area where the shell has come off this has to be changed daily,when she comes home got to try and get her to eat, any green leafed food. was told not to hibernate her this year due wounds,, the shell should heal over a couple of years.

She said there was nothing i could have done yesterday, and i did the right thing by phoning this morning, and that she was a lucky tort that the fox didnt do anything else to her.

I was given a rather price of about £200, now i am registered with the vets iam going to get my torts insuranced now.

well thats about it dont think i have forgot anything.

only thing iam worried about is she said something about injecting the painkiller with a needle, i am hoping i dont have to do that.

A very lucky tortoise.
They will probably give her some sort of antibiotic too, to stop infections. They do sound as
though things could have been a lot worse.
Not hibernating is certainly the way to go, no keeper will hibernate tortoises if they have injury
or illness.
Sounds like with TLC your tortoise will be ok.

vet has just phoned they pull the lose bit of shell of round her neck and have given her some fluids and treat her with antibiotic,painkillers and used wet and dry bandage which has to be charged daily at first then every other day, for a good couple of weeks.

am sure your tortoise will be fine, anything that needs doing your vet will show you and make sure your 100% happy about doing things.
