Hi,
I have not had my little guys long but when I was looking into what to give them I read that spinich, letuce and pellets are not very good for them. I think that they are ok on Dandylions as long as they dont get too many but they mainly eat a variaty of weeds. Take a look at the Shelled Warriors edible weeds section, that helped me a lot. Now I am growing 2 or 3 types of weeds/flowers and go picking weeds whenever I get the chance. As I say I have not had my guys long, so if anyone else sees that I have written something wrong please correct me as it will help with Yoda and Thor. PS congratulations on the new arrivals! hey congrats...
The shelled warriors shop is fab for buying seeds...I grow loads of food on the kitchen window sill...they only take about 2 weeks to be able to harvest them and it's only a few pound a year for seeds |

spinach is a no, iceburg lettuce is a definite no but there are other types eg romaine, lambs lettuce which are ok in moderation as part of a mixed diet.
Dandelions are good but not too often (as I discovered a few months ago!). Other weeds that are easy to find to start you off with are plantains, clover, chickweed, jack by the hedge and sowthistle, all common. You can also feed pansies. Have a look in the edible weeds section for more ideas Congrats on your Horsfields, you'll love them they're wonderful tortoises

hi Lillis, hope your new ones are good!
You have to watch out for oxalates in things like dandellions. This isn't great if you feed them to many and can cause stones. While iceberg has little nutritional value it is a great way of getting water into their diet. It wont cause them any harm, but I only feed it on top on a normal diet and not instead of. My guys love plantain , you'll find loads of things growing at the moment if you have a look in the edible weeds bits, there are loads of piccys! x

Congratulations you must be so be so excited and its nice to hear your swotting up! i couldnt sleep the night before i picked up mine, i drove my husband and son nuts with my torty countdown. I cant wait to see the pictures, if you get stuck on anything just ask, i have found the members of this forum to be both kind and knowledgeable and allways willing to help no matter how silly the question seems.
