"Furthermore, they contain a special mould (Trichoderma), which can protect the plant against soil diseases."
What does that mean?

Not sure Ross, but I do know that plants use moulds and fungus to survive (the really fine roots are usualy a fungus not plant roots...) so wonder if it is something like that...

So It's the same stuff then Ed? I did wonder. Is it lighter, in weight, than topsoil? I want to stack my vivs and want to make them as light as possible, top soil is heavy.

Just looked up Trichoderma, looks like its in all soils so its obviously not going to make difference.
"Trichoderma is a genus of fungi that is present in all soils, where they are the most prevalent culturable fungi. Many species in this genus can be characterized as opportunistic avirulent plant symbionts" This stuff looks better than the coir often available, as it doesn't have the strands of fibre, i'll have to get some and try it out

The postage is a bit pricey but then it is a large item and heavy. The other advantage is, when it's finished you can spread it on the garden as a soil improver, unlike topsoil that is just dirt and just fills up the garden.
I'm going to give it a go too.
