Help identify Mr Poppy please!
Hi everyone,
Can anyone tell me what breed Mr Poppy is. I had him sexed male (hence he went from Poppy to Mr Poppy!) and think he is about 7 years old but he actually came via someone who wasn't sure on gender/breed/age so maybe all this is wrong. Anyway, my mum has Hermanns and looked after him for a while but he did not get on with her Hermann (which is why I thought he was probably a boy, given their vehement dislike for one another!). He doesn't look like a Hermann to me... Sorry for poor pics, he's not the sunniest of torts at the best of times, and I woke him up to take these pics. Noone looks their best first thing in the morning Thank you! |

Thank you!
Really appreciate the response and the kind words about Mr Poppy. I shall tell him when he wakes up (if ever... he is one snoozy tort at the moment!).

Nice male tortoise. Horsfields should really be a deep olive colour, so looks like Mr poppy may need a good old dose of natural sunlight when he wakes up, or adequate UV lights. They do go a gorgeous rich colour even if they aren't quite there yet. He may even have a smile on his face. Lots of stuff to climb on too! and dig into ! CB

I think the colouring depends on the type. I have a whole range of colours going on from quite yellowish to deep brown and all live in identical conditions. However, I have never quite managed to match them up to the pictures of the different types that Dan posted!
