Default Little 'rescue' Mix

Did you see what I did there !

I always think it is an incredible privilege to look after these little critters and I had an unexpected rescue end of October of some tiny teeny weeny ones, so thought I would share. tiniest is 20 grammes odd.

Also in the mix (not in the same TT) are the little Hermann's given by Gordon , doing well and cheeky as ever - but that's Gordon for you!

New TKs, always make sure plenty of fresh water as young tortoises perish under the hot lights and centrally heated houses if they (you) don't keep their water intake up - ideally bathe regularly, or monitor intake, spray area each day to create more humidity. I usually just plonk them in their water bowls and leave them there. Especially the rescue ones because they are traumatised usually and won't explore for a while.

Here we go !

Nobody has much to say in the winter and with everything going on in the world not much they can do.
But not long to go now before torts are waking up. Saying that I have a new group that are up after having a short sleep so with some of my non hibernating ones I have plenty to keep me occupied which is keeping me going.

I must of missed this post Clare. How lovely. What species are they? Well done helping them.

Ive had some wake! 2 days and a night of twelve degrees but sods law we have had minus 3/4 overnight plus thick snow since yesterday evening. It was quite surreal this morning standing in conservatory surrounded by bowls containing torts slowly aclimatising looking out at a white garden, greenhouses like frozen solid blocks of ice! Kept me busy bathing them, soaking coir (soil frozen!) & settling up temporary tables.

Have they all got double names, Clare?

Talking of box sets, how up-to-date are you with Vikings? We’re on the second part of the final season and only 2 episodes to go!
Looking forward to Michael Hirst’s new drama on Vikings in the lead-up to 1066.

yes ! the tiniest who is the most gregarious one is Mini Mae, so cute !

I will have to catch up with Vikings ! Been watching Sisters (netflix) a nice little dysfunctional family - loving it. Bosch (prime) read some of the books and really enjoyed that to the point i miss it, weirdly . I am waiting for Rabbit proof Fence to come onto the flix as a classic watch. Really liked The Catcher was a spy. But basically reliving mission impossible several times , and feel I really know Tom now. Jack Reacher films, James bond and jurassic park - always a nice wet saturday afternoon.
Saw The Mauritanian last nignt and jodie was on point with that. There seems to be loads on but nothing good to watch, CB

Mini Mae is an adorable name!
Isn’t every family dysfunctional? Never met one that isn’t! Will look up Sisters. I have just finished Greenleaf, which had me hooked, yet was sat in my list for ages before I got to it. 5 seasons too, which is always nice.

Vikings is all done and dusted here now. No more until the spin off is made but I sort of liked how they tied it up - no spoilers! 😉
I like The Last Kingdom and there’s another season on the way. I’ve read all the books and the last one is out this year. Fabulous series!
