You could try speaking to the police, I don't know how interested they will be.

they live a few houses away from me and i dont know if it was sold or given away, apparently it was to a family who wanted one for their two young kids. my dad has gone to the police station to see if anything can be done about it, hopefully i will get my tortoise back before my 21st birthday this month.
if it was given away then surely he should do the honorable thing and atleast give us the details he has for the people who have it at the moment, i imagine its illegal to find somebody's pet and then give it away/sell it without atleast notifying the local police? (which by the way are also on the same road as my house and the guy who found its house)

Did you canvas the area when he went missing, put up Posters, ask at the local vets etc?

If they still have your tortoise. You could try speaking to Maggie Coleman username "boxgirl" on here. At the health checks she organises she has been taking ID photographs of torts for many years now. Both carapace & plastron. To prove ownership in a situation like this. I believe every torts plastron is unique & stays very similar (if not the same, cant remember now) over a long while. I have her contact details somewhere if you would like to ask her advise ( im sure she will be happy to help you) pm me. Good luck I really hope you get your tor back

Goodluck, getting your tort back, at least you finally have some form of lead. I had my dog stolen and then resold on about 2 years ago it was awful, we did eventually get him back.
