1st hibination was a success!
My Russian tort went for his nap on the 23rd December and i woke him up Monday as i checked him on Sunday evening and he had moved.
I gave him a warm bath with his heat lamp on, he was less than impressed at that, but he has eaten 2 nights running which im so happy about as he has never been a big eater, wierd he will leave his food until bedtime when the lights are all off. So another hibination success story! |

Thats good to hear. Im waking my horsefield on Sunday, its his first hibernation (2yrs old) and has been down 6 weeks, so am looking forward to seeing him again. Although I must say mine has been moving around every few days when Ive been checking on him.

Will try to! Have got to say it helped having one less animal to do over the christmas period, that sounds awful doesnt it but we had 4 extra guests for over a week, 2 dogs and 2 horses! I just panicked when he had moved so i guessed he should get up! He is eating far more than he was before hand he has breakfast then a midmorning snack, I put plants in his enclosure to make it all pretty and he has eaten them up! |
