Default difference in shell shape

on the top part of the shell in a hermann tortoise,where it covers the tail area,is that bit different in males and females?it is a bit diddicult to describe but i hope you know what i mean

Do you mean the Supracaudal scute (over the tail) Jackie?

It can be a bit more bulbous and curve over the tail in male Hermanns, but I don't really see it until other things like the larger, thicker tail become apparent so I wouldn't take it as a definite indication, more a secondary one.
