Hi, I have a number of plants (a small forest full really

) weathering in the garden for enclosures and such and have been busy finding out what is safe. They dont need to be enjoyed by torts, but safe incase they nibble. Anyone know if the following are safe as I can find no info.

Shield Fern- polystichum tsussimense
Pieris, white band and sarabande
Livistona Rotanifolia (ikea plant so not sure if this sweedish spelling

)
And are all carex grasses safe as I have a lovely black grass which I've never used before.

the livinstonia will be dead soon anyway its a hot house plantand the only other one i know is 100% safe is the carex but im not sure about the others the pieris is a funny one as its an acid loving plant the same as rhododendrons and azaleas so that will survive for a couple of years unless your soil is acidic anyway

Thanks Chris,
The Livinstonia is the only plant not outside yet as I picked it up today in Ikea. Lets see how long I can keep it alive inside as a house plant hey. I give it 2 weeks as I'm very good at killing plants

Children and animals I can do, but not plants

Can you recomend a nice fern for a redfoot table or something else for some ground cover that wont be nibbled?

i use asparagus fern and creeping fig with great success

Asperagus Fern - Asperagus setaceus plumosis
Boston Fern - Nephrolepsis exalta
Ostrich Fern- Matteuccia struthiopteris L/F
(NOT bracken ferns, (Pteridium aquilinum)
Staghorn Fern - Platycerium bifurcatum - L/ F
Tree Fern - Dicksonia antartica
Cinnamon fern - Osumunda cinnamomea

Thanks __________________ Rach Mum to 12 horsfields, 2 redfoots, 2 spur-thighed, 4 dogs, 1 cat, 1 guinea pig, 3 chipmunks, 3 african pygmy hedgehogs, 4 bearded dragons, 1 goldfish. 2 daughters and 1 husband.
