Regular partial water changes are required with goldfish if you don't have a filter running all the time. Do you have a 'bubbler' to help oxygenate the water. When you do the water change, do you add some dechlorinator to the new water before adding it to the tank?

Have you thought of adding fish gravel and things for your fish to hide in?

You need to have your filter on 24/7! How long has the tank been setup and was it just bare before you added the weed?

You need a filter running to keep the environment healthy. This and the lack of furniture within the tank, which would stress the fish as they have nowhere to hide, could have been contributing factors to its death.

Sorry, in a previous post you said you had just added the weed, some confusion on my part. Even so the situation for the fish isn't ideal, you need to sort out the filter situation and also add some more decor.
