Exclamation Strange!!

Hi there,

10 minutes after spraying warm water over my female THB, this came out of her?? When it came out it resembled a circular blob with a skin or sac round it.
When I sliced it open with a knife it had a consistency of gritty white calcium and a slightly off-coloured part as well.
She hasn't been gravid or showing any signs of this, but just wondered if this was an egg in the making??
Did the warm water spray make her do this?

Hi Andy, spraying with warm water might make them think its raining, and therefore there will be fresh water to drink (as in the wild), and therefore they can get rid of their toxins (urates). Some my torts' are like very watery milk, and sometimes the larger torts have creamy urates, with one always having gritty urates a bit like not-very-well-mixed cement. They all eat exactly the same food, have the same baths, the same supplements etc. A couple of the large females do get rid of the stuff like in your photo. One of my larger females laid eggs with no shell, or just bits of shell, just after I got her, but it definitely looked just like a broken egg with no shell, not the creamy stuff in your photo. No doubt someone else will be on soon to advise.

Those are urates and the gritty bits are small calcium oxalate stones. So nothing to do with eggs
