mixing coco coir and top soil
I gave some of my tables a spring clean today and decided to mix the coco coir with top soil. having tried both seperately I found the coco coir dries out quicker than the top soil, but is really soft and the hatchlings and young juveniles really like to dig down in it. So I thought the mix would give the best of both. it has made a really nice mixture. sorry if I'm telling you something you already know.
here it is

Thanks for sharing Suze, I am going to do the same thing when I get my margies from Lynn, thanks again for putting me in touch with her, we had a good chat the other day and fingers crossed will be collecting them very soon! I can't wait. I bought some topsoil and play sand and was going to mix those first then mix in the coco coir, did you add sand to yours or do you think it's not necessary?

Hi Simon, welcome to the margie gang, so glad your going to get Lynn's torts, I've got some incubating now. I only mixed top soil and coco coir, no sand. I'm very pleased with the mix, and I've just done it again for their new tables. Good luck with your new margies, please post some pics.
