I used boiled water from the kettle. The simple reason is, we are on a meter and it takes forever for the hot water to reach out taps so rather than waste water I just boil the kettle.

Ok folks, thanks for the replies....Ive been doing boiled kettle water then cooled with cold tap water but i'll try the warm tap water.

I usually get water from the pond and warm it under the heat lamp. They seem to prefer drinking that.

A lot of people use rain water for their torts drinking but one thing I noticed about that was the amount of grease and oil lying on it. Hard to see unless the light is hitting it but it comes of course from people's cooker extractor fans and lands on everything. When we had the pond, if you switched the pump off and allowed the water to settle you could see all the colours of the oily water so I just stick to tap water for drinking.

No doubt it's all over garden weeds too though and it doesn't seem to do any harm
