getting the temperatures right
Hi I was hoping that someone could give me some advice. we have had Sheldon for 3 weeks now and as the temperatures are now dropping i wondered how everyone keeps the cool end of the table at the right temperature. i am not having a problem with the warm end and will use the central heating for the time being to keep the temperature up in the cool end but surely there has to be a better way off doing this. i would really appreciate any advice on this. we are not hibernating him this year.
Thanks Nikki |

hi yeah thanks.we have a basking light and uv light at the warm end. i think its a 60watt basking light. we do need to get him a bigger table which i will be doing very shortly. we currently have the fire on raising the temp of the room for the cool end and overnight but i am roasting at the moment and the temp at the cool end is only just 20. he was slow to get up this morning as he is normally up about 6.30 and it worried me a bit and i dont think i should leave his basking light on overnight.i really do want to do things right for him which is why i am asking advice. can i just say that i have read loads of posts on here and have seen you give so much fab advice to loads of people.i am soo glad i found this place.
thanks nikki sorry do tend to go on but thats what i have been like since getting Sheldon ha |

This is why I suggest that some keepers in the UK use a viv instead of a table... It is easier to maintain a proper temperature.
How high are the walls of the table? I've seen some keepers(in the UK) place a board across the top to keep in the heat during the fall and winter. 60 watts is really low. Quote:
